The 22-year-old racked up 51 appearances for Man United's first-team but fell out of favour under Erik ten Hag and left on loan to Ipswich.

Kieran McKenna admits Brandon Williams 'wasn't the most talented' coming through the ranks at Manchester United but rose to the first-team through hard work.

“I think Brandon has said this on record himself, he certainly wasn't the most talented or anywhere near the most talented player in his group at 15-16," McKenna said. “He was in a very good age group with James Garner and Angel Gomes, Tahith Chong, came into that age group, Ethan Laird, who's done very well."He was in a really good age group, and he wasn't always at the top of that age group. And I saw that transition in him from a schoolboy into being a young scholar.

Williams will not only reunite with McKenna at Ipswich, but also former teammate Lee Grant who is a first-team coach at the Championship outfit. A number of clubs were interested in the left-back, but McKenna believes his side were able to win the race due to those relationships already being present.
