A medical jet carrying a young girl who had received life-saving treatment at a Philadelphia children's hospital crashed shortly after takeoff, killing all six people on board. The aircraft was heading to Mexico for its final destination.

A medical jet carrying six people, including a young girl who had received life-saving treatment at a Philadelphia children's hospital , crashed shortly after takeoff from Northeast Philadelphia airport. The aircraft was headed to Springfield-Branson National Airport in Missouri before continuing to Tijuana, Mexico . The victims aboard the jet were identified as a girl, her mother, a pilot, copilot, doctor, and paramedic.

The girl had been treated at Shriners Children's Philadelphia for a life-threatening condition and was returning home after completing her course of care. The crash also injured six people on the ground who were taken to Temple University Hospital's Jeanes Campus. Three of those victims were treated and released while three others remain hospitalized. The plane, operated by Jet Rescue Air Ambulance, went down approximately 30 seconds after taking off from the airport, which primarily serves business jets and charter flights. While officials have not yet released the identities of the victims, a spokesperson for Jet Rescue Air Ambulance, Shai Gold, confirmed the details of the passengers and their mission. He shared that the young patient had been sponsored by a third-party charity to receive life-saving treatment in the United States. Gold expressed that the child had endured a difficult fight to survive and that the tragedy on the way home was heartbreaking.A spokesperson for Shriners Children's Philadelphia, Mel Bower, also confirmed that the girl had been released from the hospital on Friday and that the staff had gathered to send her off. Bower emphasized the strong bond the hospital staff shares with their patients and their families, describing the news as devastating. He stated that every child deserves the opportunity to live their best life and that seeing one end tragically is incredibly difficult for everyone involved. The cause of the crash is still under investigation.
