ECHO exclusive as Connor O'Neill chats to Luton Town assistant Richie Kyle ahead of their Premier League game against Everton
For Richie Kyle, only one question has been on the lips of his two children as he prepares for Luton Town’s trip to Goodison Park this afternoon.
“My little girl Abigail, who understands it a little bit more, and George, my boy, who is five, have been asking the same question. “Luton, already, especially after Wembley, has been a massive part of their young life, so they have got a decision to make on Saturday, but I have told them they need to be supporting Luton."
Kyle then headed to the Football Association after leaving the Seasiders to work with the next generation of stars. He would take on a new role created by former technical director Dan Ashworth, known as an out-of-possession specialist. “It is only since I started that I got to the kind of level I am at now that I haven’t been able to go as much to watch.
“But it is going to be a great occasion because all my family and friends are going to be there, but my focus is on the game and the 90 minutes." “Everton away was the first fixture I was looking for by a country mile, and I was made up it was this side of Christmas. “I was having this conversation before with one of the sport scientists, and as a kid, I was already at Goodison, thinking it would be great one day if I could play there,” he says when asked if life in the top-flight is a real pinch-your-self moment.
“But fast forward a couple of years, and I would never have dreamt or imagined that I would be doing it in the Premier League against them.
