'If I can any way inspire young women, even if it's not pageants, to just go after your goals, then I've done my work'
One contestant competing for the Miss Great Britain Belfast title has opened up on her journey so far and how she hopes to inspire other young women.
Katie, who competed in the Miss Northern Ireland pageant 2021, told Belfast Live why she signed up to take part in the Miss Great Britain Belfast heat and said: "I had competed in one pageant before. The more I looked into , the more I seen that it's such a positive atmosphere. It just looked like a really great platform to get in and spread positivity. If there was a place for you to go and do a pageant to promote charities and empowering women, this would be it.
"I didn't really understand it when I did Miss NI because I was still quite young. Now doing it, I am a lot more mature and I have a lot more things I'd like to speak out about. The charities that we are working with are Alex's Wish and Cancer Research. Cancer Research is such an important cause to everybody, and it's really important to me."
