Simone Biles, Sha'Carri Richardson, Brittany Griner and Fred Kerley are just a few of the Texans heading to the Olympic Games in Paris.
Texans have plenty to cheer for when the Olympics start next week: more than 60 United States Olympians , more than 10% of the team, have ties to the Lone Star state. The 592-member Team USA includes 41 athletes who list Texas cities and towns as their hometowns, according to the U.S. Olympic and Paralympic Committee ’s official roster, while almost three dozen attended Texas colleges. They’ll compete in 20 different sports, from archery to weightlifting.
Victor Wembanyama leads France to striking blowouts during Olympic tune-ups Houston leads the state with ten U.S. Olympians, followed by Dallas, with four. Thirteen attended the University of Texas at Austin, while eight are Texas A&M Aggies, three competed for Texas Tech and two for Baylor.
