'Being part of the programme has made me realise that I should be proud to be a woman'
A Shankill Road youth organisation has spent the last number of months working on a project which they will showcase this week.
Speaking to Belfast Live, R-CITY's Rebecca said: "SHE stands for supporting her empowerment and we’ve took this idea and created themes for each month, focusing on a new topic to educate our girls on."The first topic was introduction to feminism. Within this theme, we look what feminism is, the importance of equal rights and the progression of women’s rights over the years.
"These were all females and discussed their experiences as a woman and in male dominated careers. All of these themes have encouraged our girls in many ways. They are so confident and passionate to discuss the topic of feminism." Leah Jackson, 16, worked on the programme within R-CITY, and says she has learned a lot while working with the team over the last few weeks and months.
