If you’ve been to the Belmont Road in East Belfast recently, you may have noticed a brand new sweet shop which has landed like a giant, hot pink gobstopper in the middle of the village.
“The word derives from 'jujubes', which is an old Scottish word for gummies,” she said. “My dad, whenever we were younger, would say, 'Do you want to go down to the sweet shop and get some joob joobs?'.” “I was trying to get the artisanal version that looks amazing and tastes amazing. For over a year, I had the suppliers sending me products. That's why I've gained a little bit of weight – I was a size six and now I'm a size eight!
But the big thing for the winter and beyond will be kids’ birthday parties. “We can go up to 24 children, it's a two-hour party slot, and you can book that on the website.” Francesca said. "My goal with this is to light up the high street in the evenings, and we do that beautiful organic coffee for sit-in and takeaway, my own brand of hot chocolates for winter, milkshakes and ice cream," Francesca said.
