Barry Cushley has dedicated himself to breathing new life into Glasgow city centre in a bid to combat its ever-growing number of empty office spaces.

A Glasgow businessman is fighting to breathe new life into the city centre amid a rapidly increasing number of empty office buildings, boarded-up windows and derelict shop fronts

His goal is to return the city centre to its former glory – and he is pouring his heart and soul into it, along with serious investment.READ MORE: Glasgow taxi fares will increase by nearly 10% as changes approved “All over the city, it’s the same story. And all these beautiful old buildings have been left to rot, they’re crumbling away or riddled with damp.Barry lives in the city centre and runs the streets every morning, so sees first-hand just how severe the situation has become.

“At Quintessential our goal is to transform run-down buildings into safe, secure, stylish modern offices, and rent them at reasonable prices with everything included - so it makes it easier for businesses to come back into the city. The sporting goods store on the ground floor remains, but the rest of the building has been transformed into Kollaboritive House, a multi-floor working environment packed with quirky, eye-catching and functional detail.

Quintessential has two other operating sites in the city centre right now, the Townhouse on St Vincent Street and The Glasshouse on Glassford Street, but clients have been moved from the latter to allow Homeless Project Scotland to run their soup kitchen and emergency night shelter in the basement.“What Colin does is inspirational. We should all be helping people like him, who do so much to help others.
