'For a young lad from Lancashire to go off somewhere like that, it just felt quite exciting in a way. It wasn't scary, I found it exciting.'

Celebrities and famous faces have endorsed his character, dubbing him a 'true performer' and the 'epitome of desire and determination' - but really, that barely scrapes the surface.

"That was kind of the first time I had been exposed to somewhere no one else visits. It's quite hostile, I saw a bomb going off down the road, people with guns. Saying he's been in situations of risk over the years might be an understatement. "I have been detained in Uzbekistan for five days as a suspected drug trafficker," Oli explained.

"I've probably been held at around 10 different borders now and interrogated for all kinds of different reasons, whether they think I'm a spy or any number of different reasons." "One specific experience which really stands out was in Tajikistan which is in central Asia. There I found myself in a very remote village on the hunt for some dinosaur footprints which had been discovered about 40 years ago and barely seen since.

Whilst it's clear to understand the mountain should be respected, often tragedy does occur. The day before Oli reached the 20,000ft summit, a solo climber died and another was taken off with a broken leg.
