Their vision is to offer clothing made without synthetic materials and with a relaxed fit that's different from the typical T-shirts, hoodies and knitwear
When Margret Barclay and Adam Urquhart first met in London a few years ago, they could never have imagined that one day their journey would see them dip their toes into the world of sustainable fashion.
Margret, who hails from Manila and is half-Filipino and half-Scottish, explained: "At the heart of their brand is a meaningful message—the name, kapwa, is inspired by the Filipino concept of shared identity, which recognises the connection we all have to each other and to the world around us. It's about celebrating our unity as humans and honouring our relationship with the environment.
For the international business trio, their goal has always been to make Kapwa sustainable and they keep this at the core of every decision. Their first collection, The Forest Collection, launched in mid-September and includes a bold and versatile hoodie; an oversized t-shirt and a cosy knitted hoodie, ranging in price from £38 to £86.
"Also it's aimed at those with the same ideology as us and fed up with fashion brands that are constantly promising to move towards sustainable materials but aren't actually doing it now. We decided to step in and make the shift happen now." "It's been an exciting first month and our friends and family have been really supportive as we work to get our name and products out there. We hope to do some pop-up and market events in the future as well as our current online offering."
