He’s up in the weights for winning it but his lead-up runs in all three forms - at set weights in winning the Turnbull Stakes, at handicaps in running third in the Caulfield Cup, and at weight-for-age when fifth in the Cox Plate, - have been tremendous. This horse’s run in Caulfield Cup was tremendous. He bombed the start, but made up ground to race in midfield. He looked like he might do something in the straight, but the earlier effort told and he finished seventh. On that run, he’s all over it. Plus Chris Waller’s a smart bloke, who would’ve done a bit of work with him to cure his bad starts. One thing they’ve done is take the blinkers off him. Maybe they’re thinking that will liven him up, so he’ll jump faster.
