has announced he will step down from his role at 3AW after more than 30 years.
The host revealed on Friday that he was leaving the show in December to take up a new role at the Nine Network. “I don’t like talking about myself and I don’t like self-indulgence, but stay with me,” he announced on his morning program on Friday.“No mucking around, straight to the point — I am stepping down from the morning program on 3AW. I’ll stand aside in three months, early December.”
Mitchell said, contrary to reports, the decision was entirely his and management had tried to convince him to stay. “It’s not an easy decision. I love this job. Apart from my family, journalism has been my life. I’ve had 36 years on radio. Radio and 3AW are my home,” he said.“I can only work one way and that’s flat out.
