The billionaire philanthropist has previously talked about privacy given by the COVID pandemic in relation to her divorce. Her and Gates’ split became public knowledge in May 2021. They jointly said at the time they "no longer believe we can grow together as a couple in this next phase of our lives." In addition to the Gates Foundation and Pivotal Ventures, French Gates is also one of the founders and signatories of the Giving Pledge.
