Those heading out to Golden Gardens or Alki Beach for the Memorial Day holiday will have to wrap up their plans an hour earlier.
The city said the early closing time is part of a pilot program that addresses "dangerous and/or illegal behavior typical of summer evening uses at these two parks."
This is the third year the city has shut down Golden Gardens and Alki Beach earlier to deter dangerous behavior and crime. This season’s announcement came just five days after a person was shot in a drive-by shooting on Harbor Avenue near Alki Beach.On Saturday, we talked to beachgoers at both Golden Gardens and Alki about the early closures.
