Edouard Mendy has undergone an operation on a fractured finger CFC

Mendy’s blow comes after Raheem Sterling and Christian Pulisic joined a lengthy list of injuries at the club, including those to Reece James, Wesley Fofana, Ben Chilwell, N’Golo Kante, Mason Mount, Ruben Loftus-Cheek and Armando Broja.Mendy was closing in on a return to action after picking up a shoulder injury while on international duty with Senegal at the World Cup.Mendy started the season as Chelsea’s number one goalkeeper, starting their first six Premier League games of the campaign.
However a mixture of injuries and lack of form have meant that Kepa Arrizabalaga has since established himself as the club’s first choice.
