Lee Curtis was described as a 'true showman' who was 'rocking to the end'
Tributes have been paid to Peter Flannery, known by his stage name Lee Curtis, who was a lead singer of the Merseybeat group Lee Curtis and The All Stars. The group was formed by Lee and his brother Joe Flannery in the early 1960s, and they were briefly local rivals of the Beatles.
"Their origins lay in The Detours, a group formed in 1961 by school friends in Liverpool and for a time became local rivals of the Beatles in the early 1960s. Rocking to the end, and still performing, we offer our sincere condolences to the family of one of our own, Pete Flannery AKA Lee Curtis. RIP X."
Later in life, Lee continued to perform occasionally in Germany and Merseyside - and was still singing months before his death. Billy said: "I still worked with Lee six or seven months ago. He was still performing on stage even though he had to perform in a wheelchair.
