Prisons in Merseyside, including HMP Liverpool, Altcourse, and HMP Berwyn, are offering a variety of festive menu options for inmates this Christmas, ranging from cheeseburgers on Christmas Eve to kebabs on New Year's Day. The menus cater to different dietary needs with vegetarian, vegan, and Halal options. Inmates can pre-select their meals from the festive menu, which includes special treats like mince pies, Christmas pudding, and trifle.
Merseyside prisoners will have many Christmas menu options to choose from this year, from cheeseburgers on Christmas Eve to kebabs on New Year. The ECHO submitted a Freedom of Information request to HMP Liverpool, Altcourse and HMP Berwyn asking for their menus over the festive period until New Years Day. While the menus for each prison are different they all include options for vegetarian, vegan and Halal diets.
Boxing Day tea: With a royal gala apple, fruit trifle, packet of crisps and a ginger cake. New Year's Eve: For New Year's Eve breakfast and lunch is 'as normal' for prisoners, however there options for tea. All with chips and spaghetti, fresh fruit and cake slice and custard. New Year's Day breakfast: All with a boiled egg, cereal/brewpack and milk. New Year's Day lunch: All with roast potatoes, carrots, green beans, bread roll and margarine.
