Discover some of the best pub walks in Merseyside, featuring scenic routes and cosy pubs perfect for a post-walk pint.

When the sun is shining on a crisp winter’s day, there’s nothing better than wrapping up warm and going for a walk before enjoying a pint at a pub. Thankfully we don’t have to travel far to enjoy a beautiful walk followed by a trip to a cosy pub, as Merseyside is home to many scenic routes with a pint waiting for us at the end of it.

Whether it’s a peaceful outing on your own or a get together with friends or family, we’ve rounded up some of our favourite walks in Merseyside that have a pub nearby. Just outside Liverpool is a flat circular walk that goes through beautiful wild flowers and takes you along the coast providing great views across the Mersey. The route begins in the village of Hale and takes you towards the lighthouse which sits on a sandstone cliff overlooking the beaches. You can walk along the cliff top path and look out for birds along the river and admire the views over Dungeon Banks and Eastham Sands to Ellesmere Port on the opposite side. If you follow the path around to the other side of the lighthouse and back towards Hale village, you will find the Childe of Hale pub which is the perfect spot for a post-walk pint. You'll definitely need to wrap up for this one as we all know how cold it can get down by the waterfront. But with plenty of pubs and bars to choose from around the Albert Dock and Pier Head, it's a lovely place to take in the best views of the city on foot, before warming up by a cosy fire. Traditional dock road pub the Baltic Fleet on Wapping is particularly warm and inviting, while over at the Albert Dock, the Pump House and The One O'Clock Gun are also pretty cosy inside. You can walk along the banks of the Dee Marshes in Little Ness in Wirral before enjoying a pint at the quaint The Harp Inn pub which has indoor and outdoor seating overlooking the marshland. If you fancy a longer stroll, you can do a circular walk by starting at the pub and turning up Denhall Lane which will lead you to Neston Roa
