This is not a drill, the latest weather forecast is showing a weekend (and beyond) without rain
Glorious blue skies and sunny spells are being forecast for Lancashire with drier weather on the horizon.
It comes after the region was battered by strong winds, heavy rain and hail earlier this week with the Met Office issuing a yellow weather warning. So far it's been a disappointing start to spring, however the latest forecast raises hopes that the situation is changing.Wednesday will remain generally dry and sunny after a chilly start with clouds "bubbling up" and a few light showers possible in places.
The Met Office outlook for Friday to Sunday states: "Drier on Friday with sunny intervals, and isolated showers. Mainly fine over the weekend with some sunshine at times. Feeling a bit warmer as winds ease, though still chilly overnight." However, the balmier spell won't constitute a heatwave, the Met Office said. Instead, the best chances for a meteorological heatwave - where temperatures have to hit at least 28C in the south of England on three consecutive days - are most likely in late May and June.
