The Met Office has issued an update with a heatwave seemingly on the way to the UK for the Spring Bank Holiday.

It is expected that there will be a north and south divide, with some "brighter conditions" in some area. Looking ahead from May 23 into early June, the meteorologists say: "Confidence during this period is typically low, but changeable weather appears to be the most likely outcome at this time."Most areas will likely see some spells of unsettled weather, as well as periods of drier and brighter weather. Above average temperatures are slightly more likely than below average.

Met Office forecaster Aidan McGivern said: "Through next week fairly typical weather for the UK for the time of year. Outbreaks of rain at times, followed by showers but interspersed by sunny spells and it will feel pleasant enough in the sunny spells.
