There is a chance of heavy rain, lightning and hail in large parts of the country
A yellow severe thunderstorm warning is in force today for large parts of the UK. The Met Office warning was issued at 4am today and is in place until midnight.
It also covers parts of South West Scotland and the Lothian Borders, areas of Strathclyde, and parts of Wales. People are warned of ‘difficult driving conditions’ and potentially road closures, as well as the possibility of delays and cancellations to public transport. The Met Office warns of a ‘slight chance' of power cuts and other services to homes and businesses. There’s also a chance of damage to buildings caused by floodwater, lightning strikes, hail or strong winds.
