Two yellow warnings for thunderstorms and heavy rain have been issued by the Met Office for today . The first warning, which covers much of the south and east of England will remain in place until 10.30am.
The second warning, covering the Midlands, East Anglia and East Anglia, will remain in place between 11am and 6pm. The Met Office says that the thunderstorms will move northeast across the area, and are likely to lead to some transport disruption. A Met Office spokesperson said: "Spray and sudden flooding could lead to difficult driving conditions and some road closures.
"There is a small chance that homes and businesses could be flooded quickly, with damage to some buildings from floodwater, lightning strikes, hail or strong winds. There is a small chance that some communities become cut off by flooded roads. "Where flooding or lightning strikes occur, there is a chance of delays and some cancellations to train and bus services. There is a slight chance that power cuts could occur and other services to some homes and businesses could be lost."
