The yellow weather warning for thunderstorms will remain active until 22:00 BST on Tuesday.
The warning covers the whole region - from the Norfolk coast to west Northamptonshire - between 10:00 BST and 22:00 on Tuesday.
A spokesperson said: "Whilst some areas will miss these, where they develop 20mm and 30mm of rain within two to three hours." They said: "If you find yourself outside and hear thunder, protect yourself by finding a safe enclosed shelter . Do not shelter under or near trees, or other structures which may be struck by lightning. If you are on an elevated, area move to lower ground."
