The weather might get better but there are no guarantees
The latest long-range weather forecast has been published by the Met Office and there is a glimmer of hope that we could still get a decent spell of weather. This summer has been blighted by rain during warm spells, with most Brits packing their umbrellas and waterproofs for holidays at home.
That unpredictable weather shows no sign of stopping any time soon, but the latest Met Office prediction suggests that there's a chance we might get some respite from wind and rain. Discussing prospects for between August 29 and September 12, the forecaster says: "Warm spells remain a possibility". The forecast adds: "A changeable pattern is likely towards the end of August and into early September. This perhaps with the wettest conditions over the north and northwest."There is a probability for thunderstorms developing within warm interludes, especially in the south, but perhaps spreading across the UK at times, which could lead to large local variations in precipitation totals through the period.
The forecast for August 19-28 is similar, with temperatures said to be a little above average overall. The Met Office adds: "Rather cloudy and at times humid conditions are likely to follow, some showers mainly in the west, whilst the best of limited sunshine are likely to be in the east. "Beyond this, fairly changeable conditions are most likely; a small change of a more settled weather developing early next week which could turn hot in the south, but otherwise a mixture of sunny spells and cloudy weather with showers is the most likely."
