The Met Office has issued a verdict on whether snow will hit the UK this month after reports emerged flurries could fall as early as November 19, with an 'Arctic blast' on the way
Brits questioning if there will be an early dusting of snow this season seem to have received comforting news for those who aren't fans of the white stuff. There has been speculation about potential snowfall in places like Scotland as soon as November 19, but the Met Office downplays the likelihood of a widespread wintry blanket.
Met Office spokesperson Andrea Bishop clarified the situation to Country Living: "There is no indication of widespread snow at this time and snow is not something that can be forecast at such a long timeframe. Forecasting snow in the UK isn't like some other places along the UK's latitude, where snow can be quite reliably forecast days or weeks in advance."
"It may not feel like it if you dip your toe in, but the water in the seas around the UK is well above freezing and that affects the temperature of the air close to the surface which can determine how much snow is in the forecast."
