A migration of the jet stream is to bring sunny weather down south.
As forecasters anticipate a heatwave, many will be wondering if Scotland will get a slice of the sunny action.
Speaking in the Met Office's 10-day trend report on YouTube, meteorologist Annie Shuttleworth said: "For the last few weeks, we've been on the northern side of the jet stream and over the next few days, its position will change. It becomes a more amplified pattern, diving down well to the south of the UK and taking low pressure systems up to the north and west of the UK.
Friday sees very little change in Scotland, apart from conditions feeling slightly cooler, with potential for more cloud and rain. Meanwhile, this day will see southern temperatures build even further, with greater London expected to experience 31C heat. It added: "A longer-lived a more widespread spell of dry and sunny weather may develop for a time during the middle part of next week, otherwise conditions overall will be changeable and similar to patterns that have dominated July so far.
