The weather has taken a downturn
It has been a cold and rainy start to the day on Merseyside as the forecasting agency predict heavy rain will arrive later this morning. The miserable downturn comes after some Spring sunshine finally arrived in the region yesterday afternoon.
April has largely saw bleak conditions on Merseyside and the forecasting agency predict the unusually cold conditions for this time of year to continue across the weekend. The forecast for the North West said: "After another chilly start, Thursday will be a mixed day of cloudy periods and sunny spells. Scattered showers developing, these possibly heavy in southern areas. Another cool feeling day. Maximum temperature 10C.For Friday, it predicted: "Dry, chilly and mostly sunny to start.
Across Saturday - Monday, the Met Office added: "Cloudy but mainly dry on Saturday, then breezier on Sunday and wet with heavy rain at times. Drier and brighter on Monday. Rather cool for late April." The long range forecast offers a similarly gloomy outlook as the Met Office warned there is a chance of thunderstorms in areas of the UK from April 29 - May 8. It said: "The weekend's rain probably clearing east and northeast to leave a drier day on Monday, although the chance of showers and even thunderstorms remains.
However, it said there could be an uplift in temperatures as we move into May as it said: "Temperatures likely to trend upwards, with the chance of a warm to very warm spell in some southern and eastern parts, before conditions probably turn drier, cooler and more settled from the west towards the end of the period."Win a VIP three-night Butlin’s Big Weekender break for adults
