Yellow National Severe Weather Warnings are in place for Thursday, Friday and Saturday
It's set to be a cool and settled start to the week, however, by Thursday, October 19, wet and windy conditions will dominate. In Scotland, the Met Office has put a Yellow National Severe Weather Warning in place as exceptional rainfall is expected.
However forecasters have said that "further warnings will likely be issued" through the week, as the rest of the country also experiences heavy rain. In Merseyside, rain first shows up on the forecast last on Wednesday , into Thursday.READ MORE: All the new Bank Holidays to be added to 2024 calendar The outlook for Wednesday to Friday reads:" Turning increasingly unsettled through the period, with outbreaks of rain, heavy at times and stronger winds, especially over the higher ground." Deputy Chief Meteorologist, Steven Keates, said: "Many parts of the UK will see a very unsettled spell of weather through the second half of the coming week, into next weekend.
"A number of areas have the potential to see a lot of rain as well as strong winds at times. Of particular concern at the moment is eastern and central Scotland where some exceptional rainfall totals could build up, falling on ground already saturated after recent heavy rainfall. This could lead to some significant and widespread disruption.
"With such an unsettled and potentially impactful spell of weather we recommend you stay up to date with the forecast for your area and keep an eye on warnings from the Met Office, SEPA and local authorities."
