An amber warning for strong winds covers the west coast of England and Wales
The Met Office is urging people to avoid certain areas and remain indoors this weekend as Storm Darragh is set to hit the UK.
In the latest weekend weather forecast, Met Office meteorologist Honour Criswick said: "Storm Darragh has been named and will bring heavy outbreaks of rain as we head into the weekend as well as very strong winds at times. This could lead to quite a lot of travel disruption as well as damage at times as well. There is already a Met Office amber warning in force for Saturday for northern Ireland and western parts of England and Wales for strong winds.
Gusts of between 70mph and 80mph are expected in coastal areas, while inland areas could see wind gusts of up to 60mph, she said. "This can cause very large waves around coastal areas so it's advised to avoid these areas if possible," she warned "Avoid travelling if possible too. Stay inside if you can because the strong winds can lead to damage outside, trees falling over and it can lead to power cuts at times too.
