The Met Office predicts unsettled conditions, including wind, rain, and snow, could impact Shropshire on New Year's Day. A low-pressure system from the Atlantic could bring heavy weather to the region.

Weather warnings are already in place in northern parts of the UK for a period of snow and heavy rain that is set to put a dampener on New Year celebrations. The Met Office says that from New Year ’s Day the unsettled conditions, and 'potentially disruptive wind, rain and snow', could affect more southern parts of the UK. A video posted on X by the Exeter-based forecasters suggests that Shropshire could see a swipe from a low pressure system running in from the Atlantic on New Year 's Day.

Neil Armstrong is a Met Office Chief Forecaster. He said: “With such varied and potentially fast-moving weather conditions it is important for people to keep up to date with the forecast.” The regional forecast for the West Midlands over the next few days is that we will get rid of the fog and it will turn brighter and milder on Sunday. The forecast for Monday to the start of 2025 on Wednesday is for it to turn “much more unsettled mid-week with strong winds at times and periods of heavy rain. Staying mild, though perhaps turning colder later.
