Manila Water Company and Maynilad Water Services are raising residential water rates in Metro Manila's east and west zones starting January 1, 2025. The increases are attributed to investments in water and wastewater infrastructure projects, with both companies exceeding 80% of their capital expenditure targets for the period. The Metropolitan Waterworks and Sewerage System (MWSS) approved the rate hikes based on the actual capital expenditures incurred by the concessionaires.
Metro Manila’s water concessionaires are increasing their residential rates for the east and west zone customers starting Jan. 1, 2025.
Manila Water said it spent P32.668 billion on water and wastewater projects during the period, accounting for 81 percent of its capital expenditure target. For Maynilad customers, the residential rate increased by P7.32 per cubic meter, bringing the all-in average to P65.62 per cubic meter, up from P58.30 in the last quarter of 2024.
