La Capilla, which already has a site in Heaton Chapel will open later this week

A year after a much-loved Stockport restaurant closed its doors, owners have confirmed it will be re-open as a Mexican Taqueria.

Blackshaws closed last September, but owner Steve Pilling promised it would reopen as a concept that would take Stockport’s food scene “to another level”. The restaurateur, who had over 30 years culinary experience running award-winning restaurants across Greater Manchester, is the owner of La Capilla and Stockport Produce Market Hall.

Speaking about the plans for the Blackshaws site last year, Mr Pilling told the Manchester Evening News: “It is closed for a makeover and will reopen as an evening restaurant, which will build on Stockport’s booming food scene with many of the fine-dining chefs from the Damson days of Heaton Moor and further afield.

As well as specials like swordfish ceviche served with tostada and mushroom asada tacos with pumpkin seed pesto and red onions at the new La Capilla, there will be brunch options and a range of beers and cocktails including Mexpresso Martinis, frozen margaritas and non-alcoholic options like Mangonada.
