Mexican voters will be able to cast their ballots in person for the first time at the Mexican consulate in San Diego
In an election of firsts, Mexico is on the verge of history. On Sunday, millions of voters, including thousands from abroad, will head to the polls to elect the country’s next president for a six-year term — and all indications point to Mexico choosing a woman for the first time. The intense campaign season — leading up to what is being called the biggest election in Mexico's history — has been marred by violence, with dozens of candidates killed across the country.
Tijuana, one of Mexico's most populous cities, will have a new mayor after the Morena party did not select incumbent Montserrat Caballero, who was seeking re-election, as its candidate. Mayoral candidates include former Morena state leader Ismael Burgueño for a coalition that includes that party, veteran television journalist Mari Carmen Flores for the PAN, former Tijuana Mayor Karla Ruíz for the Citizen's Movement Party, and former Sen.
