The law calls for deported immigrants to be sent to ports of entry along the U.S.-Mexico border, but the Mexican government announced that it would not accept immigrants deported by Texas.

In a first for a Mexican president, on Tuesday, President Andrés Manuel López Obrador praised a deadly raid on Columbus, New Mexico, in 1916, which killed roughly 18 Americans, most of them civilians. The raid resulted in a large punitive expedition by the U.S. Army in pursuit of the man behind the raid, Francisco “Pancho” Villa, though he was never caught.
