Texas to enforce a law that would allow it to arrest illegal immigrants on state, rather than federal, charges and deport them. The law calls for deported immigrants to be sent to ports of entry along the U.S.-Mexico border, but the Mexican government announced that it would not accept immigrants deported by Texas.

Its brief is meant “to provide information on the impact that this law will have on the Mexican and/or Mexican-American community, and its effect on the relations between Mexico and the United States.” The country does not have to accept deportees unless they are Mexican citizens, according to the outlet.The Mexican government has grown increasingly belligerent toward the United States in its rhetoric in recent years as the border crisis reaches new heights.
In a first for a Mexican president, on Tuesday, President Andrés Manuel López Obrador praised a deadly raid on Columbus, New Mexico, in 1916, which killed roughly 18 Americans, most of them civilians. The raid resulted in a large punitive expedition by the U.S. Army in pursuit of the man behind the raid, Francisco “Pancho” Villa, though he was never caught.
