The current bill is contradictory to Mexico’s mining ambitions
Mexico's president, Claudia Sheinbaum , said during a press briefing last week that the government will review a proposal to ban open-pit mining . In August, the country's lower house of Congress advanced the proposal after it was introduced by Mexico's previous president, Andres Manuel Lopez Obrador , in February.
