He's been speaking from his prison cell
In the second part of Nottinghamshire Live's exclusive conversation with notorious murderer Michael O'Brien, Legal Affairs Correspondent Rebecca Sherdley finds out what motivated him to fire the fatal shot that killed Marvyn Bradshaw.
O'Brien, who is up for Parole this year after serving 19 years of a life sentence for murdering Marvyn Bradshaw, the best friend of Gunn's nephew Jamie, said Gunn has probably thought himself that he "knows he shouldn't have done what he is going to do. But, if I'm honest, he got what he deserved, so I don't really have no thoughts towards him like that or no worries about him".O'Brien revealed his Parole hearing is on March 20.
"Anger is what made me fire that shot" Battered and bruised, he told how, "anger is what made me fire that shot and the fact it had been going on for so many years beforehand, and at that time, the Gunns were quite high up people in Nottingham. I did always believe if they did get their hands on me at that time, they would kill me. There were no two ways about that so..
He was asked why he thought he got on the wrong side of Gunn, and O'Brien said it was to do with his ex-partner, who O'Brien was with from the age of 15, before they split when O'Brien was 19.O'Brien says his ex got with Gunn's "right hand man". But, at the time, she still had O'Brien's name tattooed on the bottom of her back and, because of that, he was just like, "I'm going kill Jay Jay ".
"You know I've got letters in my cell right now from Colin. He wrote to me from prison saying basically it shouldn't have got this far, this that and the other, all kinds of things that you know he has written over the years". O'Brien said Gunn has written to him "loads of times" in prison.
