With a tally of 158 goals and 49 assists across 297 appearances, Owen clinched an FA Cup, two League Cups, a UEFA Cup, a Charity Shield, and a UEFA Super Cup during his time with the Reds, before he transferred to Real Madrid in 2004. His tenure with the Spanish giants was fleeting, enduring only a year in Madrid before he made his way back to the Premier League with Newcastle United, attired in their iconic black and white stripes. In 2009, after a four-year spell at Newcastle, Owen ventured back to the north west but swapped the red half of Merseyside for the red half of Manchester, signing for United – despite the Red Devils being a fierce former rival.
