Michelle Keegan's pregnancy announcement with Mark Wright has brought back memories of her past engagement to Max George. The former couple, who were engaged in 2011, called off their wedding just months later.
Michelle Keegan has joyfully announced that she's expecting her first baby with Mark Wright . Long before meeting her TOWIE star husband, the actress almost tied the knot with someone else. The 37-year-old was previously engaged to Max George , the singer from The Wanted , but the couple soon called off their £250K wedding. The former Coronation Street star and pop singer, who were 24 and 23 at the time, started dating in 2010 before their romance became official in December.
Just a few weeks later Max shared an insight into their relationship and told New! 'She's just beautiful. She's an awesome girl. She's a funny girl - and I love her accent too... it's early days though.' Following a fairytale-like start, Max proposed just six months later in June 2011. However, by January 2012, the duo had axed their lavish £250,000 nuptials. At that juncture, 'hectic work schedules' were cited as the cause of their parting ways, reports the Mirror. Reports suggested they'd chosen to 'slow down' their relationship after enduring a 'tough three or four months'. Additionally, rumours swirled of Max's infidelity when he was snapped kissing a blonde fan during a Newcastle night out. Max previously opened up about his past relationship with Michelle, admitting that their split was due in part to his 'serious drinking problem', which caused him to forget much of their time together. Speaking candidly to The Sun, Max said: 'I had a real problem with drinking too much and that was, without doubt, the downfall of our relationship. I was drinking more to forget the fact I was with someone who wasn't making me that happy.' He added: 'Michelle is seen as like Britain's Sweetheart nowadays. I understand it might have looked as if there was something to hide, there was no betrayal in terms of cheating.' Reflecting on their engagement, he shared: 'I tried to kid myself it would work out OK, but the moment she said she didn't want to be engaged anymore, I knew that something was wrong
