Pop Idol star Michelle McManus has opened up about her nine stone weight loss - making a heartbreaking admission as she detailed the reason for her lifestyle overhaul.
Michelle McManus, the sensational Glasgow Pop Idol star, opened up about her weight loss journey during a candid chat on ITV's Loose Women this week. The 44 year old songstress and TV personality, who soared to fame following her Pop Idol win in 2003, discussed her impressive nine-stone weight loss with panel favourite Coleen Nolan .
She opened up further about her journey and the actions she took for a healthier life: "I'm like: 'I should love my body, I've just had these two babies in my 40s' and I was really proud of that but I was just looking at myself going: 'I feel miserable'. Then I just decided, I got this amazing life coach, just cut my calories, started going to the gym! ".
In 2005, Michelle featured on Channel 4's dieting programme You Are What You Eat. Shortly after, the Scottish sensation released a book and DVD about weight loss. Six years ago, Michelle decided to permanently give up alcohol after becoming pregnant with her first child. She admitted that she used alcohol as a coping mechanism for low self-confidence, but by her mid-30s, she became concerned about her safety after experiencing 'black outs' following nights out.
