Mickey Mansell is set for a challenging match against world number seven Jonny Clayton in the second round of the World Darts Championship.

Mickey Mansell is back in action at the Ally Pally this afternoon as he faces world number seven Jonny Clayton in the second round. The Tyrone native had a 3-1 win over Japan's Tomoya Goto in the opening round last Friday, but he’ll need a massive improvement in his scoring averages if he is to claim the scalp of “The Ferret” this afternoon, although there have been a number of upsets in the World Championship already.

Mansell has never made it beyond the second round of the World Darts Championship and will be making his ninth appearance at the Ally Pally having lost out to his friend Brendan Dolan last year. The 51-year-old enjoyed a stunning run to the semi-finals of the Grand Slam of Darts last month and he will earn £25,000 if he makes it through to the third round for the first time. When is it on? The match is on Monday, December 23. It is the final match of this afternoon’s session at the Ally Pally, which begins at 12.30pm. Mickey Mansell and Jonny Clayton will take to oche around 3pm. How can I watch it? It will be shown live on Sky Sports Darts and on Sky Sports Main Event. Who is his opponent? Jonny Clayton is one of the best players in the world and is ranked seventh ahead of this year’s World Darts Championship. He won the Premier League of Darts in 2021, but has only ever reached the quarter-final at the Ally Pally once, back in 2023.
