It's official! Xbox Game Pass Core will replace Xbox Live Gold in September, and Microsoft will soon end Games with Gold. Details here:

Sadly, Microsoft is ending Games with Gold as of September 1, so you'll no longer have two free games to claim each month. "With this evolution, we're saying farewell to Games with Gold," CVP of Xbox gaming marketing Jerret West."We wanted to use this opportunity to reimagine how to include content with this subscription. We found that the answer to the most compelling catalog was to leverage select titles from our Xbox Game Pass catalog."
Any games claimed through Games with Gold can still be accessed if you remain a Game Pass Core or Game Pass Ultimate member. Any Xbox 360 titles redeemed via Games with Gold will stay in your library regardless of subscription status. On September 14, all current Xbox Live Gold members will automatically have their subscription transferred over to Xbox Game Pass Core, giving them immediate access to the 25 games included in the service.
