Microsoft has responded to the FTC's claims that the Activision layoffs contradict its previous argument made for its Activision acquisition.
Microsoft's previous announcement about layoffs across its Xbox Game Studios led to the Federal Trade Commission arguing that the layoffs contradicted previous claims Microsoft made during its acquisition of Activision Blizzard. Microsoft has now responded to call these accusations 'incomplete and misleading,' arguing that the layoffs couldn't be 'attributed fully' to the merger of the companies.
' Now, Microsoft has made its own response . During its argument, it claims that the FTC's 'assertions are incomplete and misleading.' It also argues that the layoffs can't be wholly the result of the merger: 'Consistent with broader trends in the gaming industry, Activision was already planning on eliminating a significant number of jobs while still operating as an independent company. The recent announcement thus cannot be attributed fully to the merger.
