Some shelters in northern Gaza are so overcrowded that people are being forced to live in the toilets, the United Nations Agency for Palestine Refugees said.Philippe Lazzarini, the head of UNRWA, alleged that Israeli authorities 'continue to deny humanitarian access' to parts of northern Gaza.He said that people had been left under siege, without critical supplies of medicine and food.
Israel has faced criticism in the past for not allowing access of aid into Gaza - something it denies.The country has said it has facilitated the flow of supplies into war-hit areas and a recent video shows Israel allowing humanitarian aid trucks from Jordan into northern Gaza.However, it has come under recent pressure, including from the US, to ramp up aid deliveries to Gaza.UNRWA controversy Alongside that, Israel has accused UNRWA employees of being involved in the 7 October attack on Israel.
