A middle school student in California might face misdemeanor assault and battery charges after video allegedly shows her attacking another student.
We've got to figure out how to get kids to stop this," Officer Ryan J. Railsback, who is the public information officer for the department, said during a phone interview Thursday.The incident was caught on camera.
Railsback, who said he believes the girls are 12 years old, said the incident occured March 13. He wouldn't comment about what led up to the attack other than to say it stemmed from sheer immaturity. Railsback also said boys involved in fights have told him they feel more pressured to fight once phones start recording. Plus, he said some kids wake up every morning worried they will get involved in a fight at school.
"These kids share these videos like it's entertainment," he said. "The behavior is tolerated and society needs to stop tolerating it, especially lawmakers."
