Flock license plate reading cameras initially installed two years ago in Middleburg Heights continue to aid police officers in identifying vehicles and capturing the criminals driving them.

The Middleburg Heights Police Department first began using license plate reading cameras in 2022 to help them catch criminals that attempt to travel through the city. updated Safety Committee members at their June 10 meeting, noting the city currently has 21 fixed units and one additional portable camera.passive infrared motion detection cameras monitor several entry points to the city and are not used to catch speeders or identify drivers through facial recognition.

“We’ve had very good success with our Flock camera program,” Tomba said. “I think it has been a great investment for the city.
