Daniel Farke faces the media on Friday afternoon for his pre-match press conference. The Leeds United manager will take questions from television, radio, print and online journalists at Thorp Arch ahead of the Bristol City clash on Saturday.
Here is a run-down of some of the main topics on the agenda for the boss to address at the training ground today.On more than one occasion, Farke has now said Junior Firpo, Wilfried Gnonto and Djed Spence will not be available on this side of the international break. So, there is not much expectation they will be asked about again.
The former was ruled out of Wednesday night’s win with a flare-up of his niggling shoulder issue that has dogged him this season, while Farke said Anthony came off with a rolled ankle in midweek.The use of Joel Piroe behind Georginio Rutter has worked for the Whites this season. It has not been perfect in every game, but it’s clear to see why Farke has wanted to persist with it up to now.
However, there must be a temptation of some kind for the manager to actually use Piroe at the head of the attack in order to see what can be achieved. The manager may be asked at some stage about that possibility, especially if Rutter begins to move out wide more anyway with the introduction of Patrick Bamford.While Farke had fewer concerns about playing Sam Byram on a Saturday-Wednesday turnaround, he admitted a Wednesday-Saturday turnaround may be harder for the injury-prone full-back.
Bamford was lively from the bench and Farke could be pushed on exactly where the striker’s fitness is at, whether he’s ready to start games and how cautious they are being with him based on his injury record.Bristol City will be the final fixture before another fortnight off for international games. The boss could be asked more about his plans for the break, how much time off he intends to give the players and what he may look to work on without the pressure of a match to prepare for.
