CHICAGO - The crisis at some migrant shelters continues as cases of measles are on the rise in Chicago shelters.Three more cases were confirmed by Chicago's Health Department yesterday. They also suspect more people may have been exposed.Now, community leaders are working to reduce those numbers by educating people about the disease and proper quarantines.
"Measles is one of the most contagious infectious diseases we have, but the upside is it also has one of the most effective vaccines that we have. If you're exposed to measles, how long to you have to stay in what we call quarantine." shared M.D. Manisha Patel with the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.Chicago officials say that they're using hotels to quarantine exposed residents.
