The conditions when Bayesian sank as well as the location of the wreck could make survival, rescue, or recovery difficult as Mike Lynch remains missing, an expert has claimed.
The body of Mike Lynch may never be recovered after his yacht, the Bayesian, sank off the coast of Sicily, an expert has warned.
Specialist firefighter Marco Tilotta has described the search efforts as challenging due to the yacht resting on its right side, with a "world of objects" blocking access to the cabins. He acknowledged that their chances are extremely low, not only because of the incident itself but also due to the depth at which the yacht sank. The Bayesian is believed to be lying at a depth of approximately 50m, which Dr Boxall indicated is "too deep for, if you like, recreational diving apparatus."
He continued: "There is a very, very faint chance they might be still alive, but I mean, it's lottery win-type probabilities because they could be in an air pocket, which they've managed to survive in but, the divers have heard nothing so far."
