After Arne Slot rested many of his first-choice Liverpool players in the FA Cup third round, Arsenal's injury woes only got worse
While Arne Slot was able to rotate his Liverpool side against Accrington Stanley, it was a rather different story for the Reds’ closest title-rival. The Dutchman made eight changes at Anfield on Saturday as his side ran out 4-0 winners to progress to the FA Cup fourth round. Goals from Diogo Jota, Trent Alexander-Arnold, Jayden Danns and Federico Chiesa secured the win, with Slot most pleased that he had been able to give minutes to many of his lesser-used players and Liverpool starlets.
Another home match against Aston Villa follows next weekend, with clashes against Man City and Newcastle United next month, they are currently at a rather treacherous point in their fixture list while contending with depleted numbers. Arsenal’s task is already harder, given they are without Bukayo Saka, Ben White, Takehiro Tomiyasu and Ethan Nwaneri because of injury.
