The Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) affirmed its support for stronger defense cooperation with Japan, which has been shoring up its assistance to the military in the form of equipment, training and personnel exchange. Know more:

During the meeting, Centino expressed his grateful appreciation to the Japanese official for Tokyo’s assistance to the AFP modernization and capability upgrade program. He added that the AFP is excited to work with the Japanese government to further improve security and defense relations in view of present challenges.

Last week, Japan issued a security document wherein it planned to beef up the capability of the Philippine military due to pressing regional security challenges.
